Fruit Salad with Pecans

Fruit salad with pecans is a delicious combination of apples, pineapple, grapes, and pecans. The nuts are what gives the recipe such a distinctive flavor and texture. It’s great served over the Christmas or the Holiday season, but equally as good any time of the year. Due to the salad being sweet and rich, the kids will love it too. The great thing is, fruit salad is makes the dish healthy.

Here are a few suggestions to making our yummy fruit salad: We use pecans because of the unique flavor of them, but walnuts can be used just as effectively. In reality, a mixture of both would be nice. Other nuts of your choice are a welcomed addition, as well.

In this recipe, the salad is chilled for at least two hours. It can be eaten right after it’s made, but it’s so nice chilled. This is what makes it a superb dish for the summer months too.

We use Cool Whip as it’s quick and simple, but regular whipping cream or all-purpose cream can be used. To avoid making the salad too watery, make sure the fat content of the cream is above 30 percent. That’s why all-purpose cream is a bit uncertain. If you find you must use it, make sure it’s good and cold.

As with any recipe, it’s nice when it’s fresh, but the dish will keep nicely for a day or two. Make sure you keep it refrigerated, however.
