  1. Add the ground pork to a pan over medium high heat. Fry until cooked through. Move the pork to one side of the pan and add in a tablespoon of butter. Let it melt down and add in the onion and garlic. Saute until fragrant. Place the apples in and fry until they begin to soften and season with the cinnamon. Mix until well combined.

  2. Season with salt, pepper, Worcestershire sauce, and Italian seasoning. Mix until well combined. Push all to one side of the pan and add in the bell peppers and hash browns. Stir for a minute or two and mix once again. Add the flour in and stir until the mixture is coated.

  3. Pour in the broth and heavy cream. Stir and simmer until it begins to thicken. Add in the dijon mustard while stirring. Turn off the heat and place the biscuits over the top of the mixture. Place in a 375 degree F preheated oven for 10 to 12 minutes until the biscuits are browned and cooked.

  4. Garnish with parsley and serve. Enjoy your Rustic Hog Farmer’s Skillet Supper – Apple, Hash Browns & Biscuits!

Note

Choose the right apple: A tart-sweet variety like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp works best — it holds up well during cooking and adds just the right touch of brightness to balance the rich pork.

Use oven-safe cookware: A cast iron or deep oven-safe skillet lets you cook everything on the stovetop and transfer it directly to the oven — no extra dishes needed.

Customize your biscuits: You can top the dish with store-bought cheddar biscuits for convenience, or use your own homemade dough if you want to elevate the dish even more.

Make it ahead: Prepare the pork filling a day in advance and simply add the biscuits and bake when you’re ready to serve — great for entertaining or meal prepping.

Add extra flavor: A pinch of red pepper flakes, smoked paprika, or a splash of Dijon mustard in the sauce can add a deeper layer of flavor.

Swap the protein: Ground chicken or turkey can be used instead of pork for a leaner variation that still pairs well with apples and biscuits.

Let it rest: Give the dish 5–10 minutes to rest after baking. This allows the sauce to thicken slightly and keeps the biscuit topping from going soggy.
