  1. To make the garlic bread, cut the loaf into 1 1/2 inch cubes, place the cubes on a baking tray, and bake for about 15 minutes at 375 degress F until toasted. You can broil them if you want them to toast faster. Just be sure to keep an eye on them.

  2. Place the ground beef into a pan over medium high heat. Break it up and fry until brown and cooked through. Push the beef to one side of the pan and add in the onion and garlic. Stir and saute until fragrant. Season with salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir once again. Pour the the sauce, stir until well combined, and allow to simmer for about 5 mintes.

  3. To build the casserole, place half the bread cubes into the bottom of a casserole dish. Spread half the sauce over followed by half the mozzareall. Add the remaining cubes over, followed by the rest of the sauce, the mozzarella, and old sharp cheddar. Sprinkle the dried basil over the top.

  4. Place in a 375 degree F preheated oven for 10 to 12 minutes until the cheese melts. Remove from the oven and garnish with the parsley.

  5. Plate, serve, and enjoy your Beefy Cheesy Garlic Bread Casserole!

Note

Use day-old garlic bread or toast your bread cubes briefly before layering — it’ll help keep them from getting too soggy.

Want a kick of heat? Add diced jalapeños or red pepper flakes to the meat sauce.

For added richness, stir in a spoonful of cream cheese or a splash of heavy cream to the sauce before assembling.

Mozzarella works great, but don’t be afraid to mix in cheddar, Monterey Jack, or even a little provolone for extra flavor.

Garnish with chopped parsley or green onions for a fresh, colorful finish.

This casserole reheats beautifully and makes fantastic leftovers — if you have any!
