  • 3 Tbsp Water
  • For the Teriyaki Sauce
  • 1/2 Cup Water
  • 1/3 Cup Soy sauce
  • 1 Tbsp Rice wine vinegar
  • 1/3 Cup Brown sugar
  • 1 Tbsp Corn Starch
  • 2 Tsp Sesame oil
  • For the Ground Beef Mixture
  • 1 lb Medium ground beef (You can use lean if you wish.)
  • 3 cloves Garlic, chopped
  • 1 Thumb size Ginger, chopped
  • 3 Medium Green onions, chopped diagonally and dived in half (Use the whitest for frying and the greens for garnish. You can also use scallions for frying.)
  • 3 Cups Broccoli
  • 1 1/2 Cups Grated carrots
  • 1 Tsp Ground black pepper
  • 1 Tbsp Sesame seed for garnish
Instructions
  1. In two small bowls, mix together the ingredients for the sour cream sauce and teriyaki sauce. Set them aside.

  2. Add some oil to a pan over medium high heat. Place the beef in. Stir and fry until it is browned and cooked through. Move the beef to one side of the pan and add the garlic, ginger, and onion to the other side. Stir and saute until fragrant. Stir and mix everything together.

  3. Add in the broccoli and carrots. Toss and fry until the broccoli begins to turn bright green. This should take 3 or 4 minutes. Pour the sauce over and toss once again. Continue to toss for 3 minutes or so. Turn off the heat and plate over rice. Drizzle the sour cream sauce over and garnish with the remaining onions and sesame seeds.

Note
  1. Ground Beef Alternatives:

    • You can substitute ground beef with ground turkey, chicken, or pork for a different flavor profile or to suit dietary preferences.
  2. Vegetable Additions:

    • Feel free to add vegetables like bell peppers, broccoli, or snap peas for added nutrition and color. Simply sauté them with the ground beef or steam them separately.
  3. Serving Suggestions:

    • This Ground Beef Teriyaki pairs wonderfully with steamed white or brown rice. For a lower-carb option, serve it over cauliflower rice or a bed of mixed greens.
  4. Storage Tips:

    • Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the microwave or on the stovetop until heated through.
  5. Customization:

    • Adjust the sweetness and saltiness to your taste by modifying the amounts of soy sauce and brown sugar. For a spicier kick, add a pinch of red pepper flakes or a dash of sriracha sauce.
    • Gluten-Free Option:

      • Make this recipe gluten-free by using tamari or a gluten-free soy sauce.
