Honey Spicy Chicken Chicken in 30 Minutes

honey chicken
I especially enjoy chicken with some spice and sweetness. Plain old chicken with salt and pepper is just too boring form me. Then, I got thinking about a chicken dish with an element of sweetness and a tad of spice. Often not just a tad but a lot of spice. Yes, a sweet and sour chicken. After thinking all this, it came to mind that a chicken dish with some honey and chili sauce might fit the bill. Thus, my honey spicy chicken dish was created. I have to say, it has to be one of the nicest dishes I have ever put together. Believe me guys, it is a must try.

Ingredients
    To Make the Chicken
  • 2 large boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut in half
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons corn starch
  • For the Sauce
  • 3 cloves chopped garlic
  • 1/4 cup chilli sauce
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 teaspoons sesame seeds for garnish
  • 2 medium chopped green onions for garnish
Instructions
    To Fry the Chicken
  1. Cut the chicken into strips. Season with salt and pepper. Add in the egg and corn starch. Toss until well coated.

  2. Pour about 1 1/2 inches of oil into a pan and heat to about 360 degrees F or 180 C. Place the chicken in and fry, in batches, until golden brown and cooked through. This will take about 6 minutes. Set aside on a wire rack.

  3. To Prepare the Sauce
  4. Add some oil to a pan over medium high heat. Place the garlic in. Stir and saute until fragrant. This will take about 2 minutes. Put the chilli in and stir and fry until heated through. Add in the honey and water. Stir and fry once again and bring to a boil.

  5. Put the chicken back in and stir until well coated.

  6. Plate, garnish with sesame seeds and onions. Enjoy your honey spicy chicken.

Note

The level of spiciness can be increased by the brand and content of the chilli sauce you buy. If you can't get a sauce spicy enough, add in some flakes or even tabasco. Be sure to use a good brand of honey as that will make a huge difference. Adjust the rest of the spices accordingly as well.
