Ingredients
Instructions
-
Add half the butter and oil to a pan over medium high heat. Place the onions in and fry for a minute or two. Add in the brown sugar and stir. Reduce the heat and allow them to caramalize slowly stirring occasionally. This will take 20 minutes or so. Set aside in a bowl.
-
In the same pan, over medium high heat again, add in remaining butter and oil. Place the potatoes in and fry until browned and cooked through. This should take 5 to 7 minutes depending on the size. Set them aside in the same bowl as the onions.
-
In the same pan once again, place the ground beef and sausage. Fry until cooked through and browned. Once they are fried, push everything to one side and add in the garlic. Stir and saute until it's fragrant. Once fragrant, season with salt, pepper, onion powder, Southern style seasoning, smoked paprika, Worcestershre sauce, and BBQ sauce. Mix until well combined.
-
Add the bell peppers in and fry them until they begin to soften. Add the potatoes and onions in and stir once again. Grate or spread the cheese over, turn the heat off, and allow the cheese to melt.
-
Plate, serve, and enjoy your one-pan lumberjack supper!

Note
- Meat Options: While this recipe calls for ground beef, you can easily swap it out for ground pork, turkey, or even chicken. For a more rustic twist, try using sausage for added flavor!
- Vegetable Variations: Feel free to add extra veggies like carrots, peppers, or mushrooms to suit your taste or use up what you have in the fridge.
- Make it Spicy: If you enjoy a bit of heat, add a pinch of crushed red pepper flakes or a dash of hot sauce to give the dish a little kick!
- Crispy Potatoes: For extra crispy potatoes, let them cook undisturbed for a few minutes before stirring. This will create a golden, crispy crust on the potatoes that adds great texture.
