  1. Cook the penne pasta in salted boiling water until just al dente according to package instructions. Drain and add to an 8 by 8 greased casserole or baking dish. Add in 1/2 cup of pizza sauce and mix with the pasta. Spread about half a cup of mozzarella over the top. Set aside.

  2. Add the ground beef to a pan over medium high heat. Break it up and fry until cooked through and browned. Push to one side of the pan and add in the mushrooms. Stir and cook until they begin to change color and release water. Mix and push to one side again. Add in the onion and garlic. Stir and sauté until fragrant. Mix again. Add in the pizza sauce followed by the salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, and oregano. Mix until well combined.

  3. Add the ground beef mixture over the pasta in the baking dish. Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella over the top. Place the pepperoni over the cheese. Sprinkle the basil over. Bake for about 20 minutes in a 375 degree F preheated oven.

  4. Allow to cool for a few minutes. Serve and enjoy your Meat Lover’s Ground Beef Pizza Casserole!
