Note
-
Sausage Selection: Choose your favorite type of sausage to add a unique flavor profile. Italian sausage, chicken sausage, or even spicy sausage can all bring a different twist to this dish. You can use other meats as well.Β
-
Vegetable Variety: Feel free to play around with the veggies based on what you have in your kitchen. Bell peppers, cherry tomatoes, or spinach make excellent additions. The more colors, the better!
-
Creamy Sauce Consistency: Adjust the thickness of the creamy sauce by controlling the amount of pasta cooking water you add. For a thicker sauce, use less water; for a creamier consistency, add a bit more.
-
Cheese Lovers' Option: Grate some Parmesan or sprinkle shredded mozzarella over the top just before serving for an extra layer of cheesy goodness.
-
Fresh Herbs: Elevate the flavors by garnishing with fresh herbs like basil, parsley, or chives. The vibrant, fragrant addition adds a burst of freshness to the dish.
-
Make-Ahead Tips: This dish reheats well, making it a fantastic option for meal prepping. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2-3 days. Reheat on the stove with a splash of water to maintain the creamy consistency.
-
Pasta Choices: While we use penne in this recipe, you can switch it up with your preferred pasta shape β fusilli, rigatoni, or farfalle all work beautifully.
-
Pro Tip for Busy Nights: Pre-chop your veggies and slice the sausage in advance for an even quicker assembly when you're ready to cook.
-
Wine Pairing: This creamy sausage and veggie pasta pairs wonderfully with a light white wine, like a Pinot Grigio or Sauvignon Blanc, to complement the richness of the dish.
