Ingredients
  • 1 pound top sirloin, sliced thinly
  • 4 cups brocolli florets
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons corn starch for the beef marinate
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce for the beef marinate
  • 3/4 cups chicken stock
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 medium thumb size ginger, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce for the sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon corn starch
  • 1 large orange
  • 1 teaspoon zest from the orange
  • 1/2 cup juice from the same orange
Instructions
  1. Add the beef to a mixing bowl followed by the pepper, corn starch, and soy sauce. Mix until the meat is completely coated. Set it aside. You can also place it in the fridge for about 20 minutes or overnight.

  2. Add the chicken stock to a bowl or large measuring cup followed by the sugar, ginger, garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, corn starch, orange zest, and orange juice. Mix until well incorporated.

  3. Pour a tablespoon or two of oil into a preheated wok or frying pan over medium high heat. Place the beef in and fry for a few minutes until brown. This won't take that long as the beef is thin. Don't overcook it.

  4. Add in the broccoli and fry for another few minutes until it begins to become tender.

I like my broccoli crisp. If you want it really tender pre-boil it or place it in the microwave for a minute or two.
  5. Pour the sauce in and bring it to a boil. Stir and simmer for a few minutes until it thickens.

  6. Serve over steamed rice and enjoy your orange beef and broccoli.
