Instructions

To Make the Patties

  1. Place the potatoes in salted boiling water and boil for about 15 minutes. While they are boiling, add the ground beef, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, egg, and bread crumbs to a mixing bowl. Using your hands or a spoon, mix until well combined. Grab up and handful and form the mixture into patties.

  2. Add some oil to a pan over medium high heat. Place the patties in and fry until cooked through and they begin to sear. Remove them and set them aside on a plate.
  1. To Make the Gravy

In the same pan as the patties, add the butter and allow it to melt down. Add in a bit more oil if necessary. Place in the onion and mushrooms. Fry until the they both change color. Add in the flour and cook for 1 minute. Pour in the beef broth and season with Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper. Whisk and allow it simmer until it thickens up.

  2. Place the patties in, spoon some gravy over the top, and allow to simmer, uncovered, for about 10 minutes.

  3. To Make the Mashed.

Drain the potatoes and add in the butter, milk, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mash until smooth and creamy.

The butter, milk, and seasoning depends on how many potatoes you make. If they are not creamy enough, add more milk.
  4. Putting it all Together

Spoon the potatoes onto a plate and a patty over the top. Follow this by some gravy with onions and mushrooms. Serve and enjoy your Rustic Hillbilly Steak Supper!
