Ingredients
  • 2 cups Rotini noodles (You can use the noodles of your choice.)
  • 1 pound (1/2 kilo) lean ground beef
  • 1/2 small chopped onion
  • 3 cloves chopped garlic
  • 400 milliliters (14) oz of tomato sauce (You can use pasta sauce too if you wish.)
  • 1/4 cup (2 oz) of pizza sauce (It just an option but I love the taste.)
  • 1 - 2 teaspoon Italian seasoning (Use as much as you like. I usually add 2.)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 2 cups grated mozzarella (Use as much as you like. I'm usually generous.)
  • 15 slices pepperoni (Just an estimate. It depends on the size of your pan.)
  • 4 medium button mushrooms sliced fairly thinly
  • 1/4 medium red bell pepper, chopped
  • 1/4 medium green bell pepper, chopped
  • 6 medium black olives, sliced
  • 4 -5 medium basil leaves, chopped (Use dried if you don't have fresh on hand.)
Instructions
  1. Add the pasta to boiling salted water and cook for 10 to 12 minutes until al dente. Drain and set aside.

  2. Add the beef to a cast iron skillet over medium high heat. Cook for 5 minutes or so until browned.

  3. Add in the onion and garlic and saute until fragrant. This should take about 2 or 3 minutes.

  4. Pour the tomato and pizza sauce in followed by the Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Stir until well combined.

  5. Add in the pasta. Stir once again until well combined.

  6. Place the mozzarella over the top followed by the pepperoni, mushrooms, bell peppers, olives, and basil.

  7. Place the pizza casserole into a 375 F or 200 C preheated oven for about 15 minutes until the cheese is melted and the pepperoni cooked.

  8. Serve and enjoy your wonderful pizza casserole.

Note

I use lean ground beef, but any cut can be used. Just remember to drain any excess fat.

As mentioned in the ingredients, we use rotini noodles, but any type of noodle can be used.

Pizza sauce can be omitted and marinara or pasta sauce can be used in place of the tomato sauce.

Again, the toppings are only my favourite, feel free to use the toppings of your choice.
