The Easiest Beef Pie Recipe You’ll Find Anywhere

I've always loved the pies. I remember going to the bakery Shop and getting a fresh beef pie three times a week. That and a good cinnamon roll was my lunch. Often, however, there are no bakery shops nearby. In light of that, I had to come up with a recipe to make my own. Indeed, this simple recipe produces one of easiest beef pies you'll find anywhere

As usual with Cook n' Share recipes, most of the ingredients you'll have right in your pantry. The only thing you'll have to buy is some stewing beef and a pre-made pie shell. As a tip, ground beef works fine as well.

Believe me, your family and friends will rant and rave about this super delicious pie.

I've always been a fan of beef pies. I love them fresh baked from the bakery. My all-time favorite, however, is a homemade beef pie. And this recipe is about as easy as it gets. As mentioned earlier, simply combine a few ingredients from your pantry with some cooking or ground beef you've ever made.

Ingredients
  • 2 large pre-made pie shells
  • 1 1/2 pound stewing beef
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley (or 1 tsp of dried)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary (or 1 tsp of dried)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme (or 1 tsp of dried)
  • 2 tablespoons all purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil for cooking
  • 3 cloves chopped garlic
  • 1 small chopped onion
  • 1 cup mixed frozen veggies
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds milk (For sprinkling over the top of the pie.)
  • 1 teaspoon
Instructions
  1. Add the beef, salt, pepper, parsley, rosemary, thyme, and flour to a mixing bowl. Mix until well combined and the meat is coated. 

  2. Add the oil, onion, and garlic to a pan over medium high heat. Saute until fragrant. Put the beef in and fry until browned. About 5 minutes or so. 

  3. Add in the veggies and fry for a minute or so. Pour in the beef broth and the Worcestershire sauce. Bring to a boil and simmer until reduced and it thickens a bit. 

  4. Prepare a pre-made pie shell according to package instructions. Poke a few holes in the bottom and add the beef mixture in. 

  5. Flip the second pie shell onto a floured surface and roll out slightly larger than the first. Lay it over the first, cut a few slots in the centre, and pinch the edges shut. 

  6. Make the egg wash by combining the egg and milk. Beat well. Brush it over the edges and top of the pie. 

  7. Place the pie into a 400 degree F or 200 C preheated oven for about 30 minutes. 

  8. Allow the pie to cool, serve, and enjoy.

Note

I use stewing beef, but you can use the beef of your choice. Ground beef works well too.

Adjust the seasoning according to your liking. Add or omit what you like. 

You can make the pie shell from scratch. I just find it a lot of work.
