  1. Add the ground beef to a large skillet over medium-high heat. Break it up and cook until browned and fully cooked through. Drain off any excess grease if needed.

  2. Push the beef to one side of the pan and add in the diced onion, garlic, and bell pepper. Stir and cook for 3–4 minutes until softened and fragrant.

  3. Push to one side of the pan again and add in the tomato paste. Stir and cook for a couple of minutes and mix well.

  4. Add the paprika, Italian seasoning, salt, black pepper, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir well and cook for 1–2 minutes to bring out the flavors.

  5. Pour in the beef broth and add the rice. Stir until well combined. Cover and reduce the heat. Allow to simmer for about 15 minutes until the rice is cooked.

  6. Add in the tomatoes and stir gently. Simmer for another couple of minutes and add in the cream. Stir once again.

  7. Turn off the heat and spread the cheeses over the top. Cover again and allow the cheeses to melt down.

  8. Garnish with parsley, serve, and enjoy The Supper You Keep Coming Back To!

Note

You can use ground turkey or sausage instead of beef for a different flavor. If you don’t have rice, swap it for small pasta or diced potatoes, adjusting the liquid and cook time as needed. For a richer finish, stir in some shredded cheese at the end or add a spoonful of sour cream or extra half and half. If you like a bit of heat, add chili flakes or a dash of hot sauce, or try smoked paprika for a deeper flavor. Keep the heat low while simmering to prevent the rice from burning, and if the skillet looks dry before the rice is fully cooked, just add a splash of broth. Let the dish sit for a few minutes before serving so it thickens up nicely. This is a complete one-pan meal on its own, but it also pairs well with a simple salad or some crusty bread. Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days and reheat with a splash of broth or milk to bring it back to life. The flavors are even better the next day.

Yes, this dish can be made ahead of time and reheats very well. Store it in the fridge and reheat with a bit of broth or milk to freshen it up. You can freeze it, although the texture of the rice may soften slightly when reheated. If you don’t want to use rice, small pasta or diced potatoes work well, just adjust the cooking time and liquid. To make it dairy-free, simply leave out the half and half or use a dairy-free substitute. The rice is done when it’s tender and most of the liquid has been absorbed; if needed, cook it a few minutes longer or add a splash of broth.
