Ingredients
  • 1 Pound of ground beef
  • 1/2 Red bell pepper, julienned
  • 1/2 Green bell pepper, julienned
  • 1 Small onion, chopped
  • 3 Cloves of garlic, chopped
  • 1 Can of sweet corn
  • 3 Tbsp of BBQ sauce (I use Stubbs.)
  • 2 Tbsp of ketchup
  • 1 - 2 Tsp of brown sugar
  • 1 Tsp of smoked paprika
  • 1 Tbsp of Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 Tsp of salt
  • 1 Tsp of ground black pepper
  • 1 Tsp of hot sauce (I use Frank's.)
  • 1 Cup of Tex Mex Cheese
Instructions
  1. Add the ground beef to a pan over medium high heat. Break up and fry until cooked through and browned. Push the beef to one side of the pan and add in the onion and garlic. Stir and sauté until fragrant. Add in the bell peppers and stir until they begin to soften. Put the corn in and stir once again.

  2. Add in the BBQ sauce, ketchup, sugar, paprika, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and hot sauce. Mix once again. Allow it to simmer over medium low heat for 5 minutes. Add in the cheese and mix until well incorporated.

  3. Plate, serve, and enjoy your Sweet & Smoky Skillet Ground beef skillet.

Note
  • Make it saucier: If the mixture feels a bit dry, stir in 1/4 cup of beef broth or water while simmering to loosen it up.
  • Cheese options: Cheddar is classic, but smoked gouda, pepper jack, or even a sprinkle of mozzarella work great too.
  • Boost the veggies: You can toss in diced zucchini, mushrooms, or spinach for extra color and nutrition.
  • Add a starch base: This dish pairs perfectly with white rice, mashed potatoes, cornbread, or even on top of a toasted bun.
  • Control the heat: Adjust the hot sauce to taste or skip it altogether if cooking for kids or spice-sensitive eaters.
  • Storage: Leftovers store well in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in a skillet with a splash of water or microwave gently.
