  • 6 slices coarsely chopped bacon
  • 1/2 pound medium ground beef
  • 1 small chopped onion
  • 3 cloves chopped garlic
  • 1/4 cup mollasses
  • 1/4 cup bbq sauce (I use Stubs Hickory but it's your choice)
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon prepared mustard
  • 1 teaspoon chilli powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 cans 14 oz each of beans in maple undrained
  • 1 can 18 oz of white kidney beans drained (You can use butter beans or your choice of beans)

Instructions
  1. Add some oil to a pan over medium high heat. Place in the ground beef and bacon. Fry until the beef is browned and the bacon is cooked. Drain any excess grease.

  2. Add in the onion and garlic. Saute for a few minutes until the garlic is fragrant.

  3. Add in the molasses, bbq sauce, ketchup, sugar, prepared mustard, chilli powder, salt, and pepper. Stir until the meat is coated and all is well combined.

  4. Put in the beans in maple, white beans, and red beans. Gently mix until combined.

Note

Use the ground beef and bacon of your choice. Ground pork can also be used.

Alter the ingredients according to your choice. Use the brand of ketchup or bbq sauce you like. I prefer something with a hickory flavour.

I use beans in maple, but use the beans of your choice. White kidney beans work well, but butter beans are nice too.
