Easy Meringue Cookies
Meringue cookies is every one favorite snacks made of egg whites. This is easy to make and only needs three ingredients. I always serve them up with a cup of coffee, tea, or milk. As well, the kids will love them. Of course, you can alter the sugar according to your taste. Give them a try and let us know what you think.
Usually it takes 7- 10 minutes to beat egg white to get stiff peaks. meaning, It should stick to paddle attachments. Just be patient. Food color is optional, however it makes them so pretty and colorful. You can also add additional flavoring to these like banana essence or vanilla. After you bake them, just keep them in room temperature and it will last for a week or so. Do not put them in the fridge.Video:
- 2 egg whites
- ¼ tsp cream of tartar
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- In a mixing bowl combine egg whites and cream of tartar. Beat on low speed until frothy. This will take about 3 minutes.
- Then gradually add in sugar and continuously beat over medium speed until stiff peaks for about 7- 10 minutes.
- Drop food color of your choice and beat for a minute.
- Bake at 200 F for about 1 hour. Turn off oven and let it sit inside the oven without opening the door for about 30 minutes. Serve and enjoy.
