Fried mac and cheese bars are simple and tasty. I make up the mac and cheese the night before, put it in a square pan, and let it sit in the fridge over night. The next morning, I slice them into bars, fry them up, and have them with some homemade marinara sauce. This is really a unique way to serve mac and cheese. Believe me, it will be an instant hit.
You can either use homemade mac and cheese or buy some Kraft Dinner. It is important that it sits in the fridge overnight in order to set properly. I use fine bread crumbs, but you can use Panko if you wish. We season ours with salt, pepper, paprika, and garlic. The seasoning can be adjusted according to your liking, however. I use about a tbsp of butter and add in a bit of olive oil to raise the temperature so the butter won’t burn.
