Description

I had friends coming over and was looking for a fast and easy treat. Sometimes, they are difficult to find. I knew I had ground chicken in the fridge and some mozzarella cheese. I also concluded that chicken nuggets are always a great party food. So, I put two and tow together and made up these cheesy chicken nuggets. I have to say they were a hit.

  1. Add the chicken and seasoning to a mixing bowl. Using your hands or spoon, mix until well combined.

  2. Use 3 separate bowls. In the first bowl, add in the flour. In the second bowl, the eggs. And, in the third bowl, add in the bread crumbs.

  3. Grab up a palm full of the mixture and place it in the palm of your hand. Form it into a ball and flatten it out. Place a block of cheese into the centre. Fold the chicken mixture over it and form it into a ball again. Set it aside and repeat the process for the remaining chicken mixture. Form each ball into a nugget shape of your choice.

  4. Dredge each wedge into the flour and ensure it's completely coated. Shake off any excess flour and roll it in the egg mixture. Then, in the third bowl, dredge them them in the bread crumbs. Set aside on a baking sheet. Repeat the process for all of the nuggets.

  5. Pour your oil into a pan and heat to about 350 degrees F or 180 C. Fry the chicken wedges until they are golden brown and set them aside on a wire rack.

  6. Serve with the sauce of your choice and enjoy.

Note

  1. Cheese: Feel free to experiment with different types of cheese. Cheddar, mozzarella, or a blend of cheeses work well for a gooey and flavorful filling. Shred the cheese or cut it into small cubes to easily stuff inside the nuggets.

  2. Coating: To achieve a crispy and golden exterior, we'll use a combination of breadcrumbs and seasonings. You can use regular breadcrumbs or panko breadcrumbs for extra crunch. Add some herbs and spices like paprika, garlic powder, or dried herbs to enhance the flavor.

  3. Filling: The cheesy filling adds an extra burst of flavor to the chicken nuggets. Make sure the cheese is well-sealed inside the nuggets to prevent it from melting out during cooking. You can also add some finely chopped herbs or diced vegetables to the filling for added texture and taste.

  4. Baking vs. Frying: This recipe offers the option to bake the nuggets for a healthier alternative or fry them for a more indulgent experience. If you choose to bake, preheat your oven and place the nuggets on a greased baking sheet. For frying, heat oil in a pan and cook the nuggets until they are golden brown and crispy.

  5. Dipping Sauces: Serve your cheesy chicken nuggets with an array of dipping sauces to enhance the overall taste. Classic options like ketchup, barbecue sauce, honey mustard, or ranch dressing pair well with these nuggets.

  6. Storage: Leftover chicken nuggets can be refrigerated in an airtight container for up to 3 days. To reheat, place them in a preheated oven or air fryer for a few minutes until heated through and crispy again.
