Cheesy Tater Tot Casserole Recipe

This cheesy tater tot casserole recipe is combined with Italian sausage to create a fusion which is simply out of this world. Imagine elevating simple frozen tater tots to a level which will create a flavour explosion for your family, dinner guests, and friends.

If you have taste for potatoes and sausage, this dish is for you. Made with a delicious combination of tater tots, spices, and sausage, it is simply to die for.

  1. Add the oil to a preheated pan over medium high heat and place the sausage in and fry until cooked through and browned.

  2. Place the onion in and saute until it begins to become translucent.

  3. Pour in the cream of celery soup, milk, corn, green beans, garlic, cayenne, salt, and pepper. 

  4. Grate the cheese in, give it a stir until well combined, and bring to a boil. 

  5. Spray a fairly large casserole dish with some baking spray and add the mixture in. 

  6. Spread the tater tots over the top. Cover it with aluminum foil, place in a preheated oven set to 350 degree F 180 C. Bake for about half an hour.

  7. After about half an hour, remove the casserole, take the foil off, grate some cheese over the top, and bake for an additional 15 minutes.

  8. Serve and enjoy your cheesy tater tot casserole.

Note

I use simple store bought tater tots, but you can also buy them infused with a cheesy filling. I don't find this necessary due to the fact that cheese is being added to the casserole anyway. You can make the tater tots from scratch as well. This creates a lot of extra work, however. Certain spices of my choice are included in the recipe, but you can use the ones of your choice. I love the medium Italian sausage but feel free to use the sausage of your choice.
