  1. Chop the tops off the bulbs of garlic and peel the shallots. Place the garlic bulbs and shallots onto a sheet of aluminum foil. Pour the olive oil over and season with salt and pepper. Fold and seal the foil. Place into a 400 degree F or 200 C preheated oven for 45 minutes.

  2. Remove the garlic from the oven and allow to cool a bit. Add the butter (at room temperature) to a mixing bowl and place the shallots in. After the garlic has cooled squeeze it out into the bowl with the garlic and butter. Season with pepper flakes, salt, and remaining pepper. Mix using a spoon or spatula.Β

  3. Slice the bun or loaf in half and spread the garlic butter over the top. Follow this by the cheese. Place back in the oven for an additional 10 minutes or so until the cheese melts and the bun is toasted.Β

  4. Remove the garlic bread from the oven and drizzle the honey over the top. Garnish with parsley and slice. Enjoy your honey garlic bread!

Note

Opt for a high-quality baguette or Italian bread for the best texture. A slightly dense bread with a crisp crust works well.

Experiment with different types of honey to discover unique flavor profiles. Whether it's floral, citrusy, or robust, the honey will add depth to your garlic bread. While the honey adds sweetness, be mindful not to overwhelm the dish. A subtle sweetness should complement the savory garlic and butter.

Consider adding freshly chopped parsley or basil for a burst of freshness. These herbs provide a beautiful contrast to the richness of the garlic and honey.

Feel free to customize by adding grated Parmesan or shredded mozzarella for a cheesy twist. You can also experiment with different herbs or spices.

Serve the garlic bread alongside pasta, soups, or salads. It's also a fantastic appetizer for gatherings or game nights.
