As the Holidays fast approach this Savoury sausage stuffing for the holidays captures the essence of the season. I was looking for a stuffing recipe. As so many times before, I couldn’t find anything that caught my eye or pallet as it were. In light of that, I invented my own and came up with this simply delightful savoury sausage stuffing.
I began with some apples, which I always find go nice with any type of sausage. In this case, I used mild Italian which is my favourite. Then, I added onion, celery, and seasoning. To make a long story short, the perfect savoury sausage stuffing for the Holidays was born.
The outcome of the recipe is eye catching and the taste is out of this world. Believe me, your family and friends will love it and go back for seconds.
Savory Sausage Stuffing
Wether it be Thanksgiving or Christmas, we all search for the perfect stuffing mixture as it makes or breaks the entire dinner. Let's face it, it ties the entire meal meal together. Give this savoury sausage stuffing a try and you won't be disappointed. As one member said: "My family talks about for days in anticipation of dinner."
Heat a frying pan over medium high heat. Add in the butter and allow it to melt down.
Add in the celery, onions, the apple, sage, thyme, salt, and pepper. Stir and fry until the apples become tender crisp.
Put the bread crumbs in a large mixing bowl and add the content of the frying pan to them.
In the same pan, add in the sausages and break up. Fry until cooked though and brown.
Put the sausage into the bowl with the mixture followed by the cranberries and chicken stock. Toss until well combined.
Transfer to the mixture to an oven dish. Place into a 350 degree F or 180 C preheated oven for 30 minutes.
Serve and enjoy your savoury sausage stuffing.

In terms of the bread cubes, you can make them yourself or use store bought. I usually make them up the night before.
You can alter the seasoning according to your liking. The same applies to the the cranberries.
If you find the stuffing isn't moist enough, add a bit more chicken stock. If you think it will be too moist, add a bit less.
I sometimes make it up the night before and keep it in the fridge. The next day, I place it in the oven about half an hour before the turkey is ready.
It also freezes nicely and keeps well for leftovers.
